What is the Opportunity Fund?

The Partnership for Healthy Cities is proud to introduce a new funding opportunity designed to help cities expand the reach, scale, and impact of their interventions. Cities may submit one proposal for a budget of up to $100,000 USD. Funding is disbursed directly to your city or designated implementing partner, ensuring resources reach your work quickly.

Explore the possibilities

Use cases and example activities to show how the Opportunity Fund can support your city's work.

Barcelona, Spain hosted seven cities from the Partnership network for the initiative’s first workshop on addressing the health impacts of rising temperatures, which included a tour of Barcelona’s Superblocks, neighborhoods where traffic is restricted to promote walking, cycling, green spaces and social activities.
Scaling your work

Scale or expand a current intervention by adding implementation sites, new activities like communication campaigns, or hiring additional community-based partners. Funding can also cover materials and supplies such as low-cost sensors, road signage, or school canteen equipment.

Strategic communication to advance policy

Develop clear, compelling messaging for target audiences, build strategic partnerships with trusted voices and community leaders, and engage media through outreach and training to strengthen policy-focused coverage.

Responding to industry interference

Procure local legal technical assistance or provide funding to civil society organizations to support advocacy efforts.

Supporting a novel project related to your current work

Support activities related to a Partnership for Healthy Cities intervention that fall outside standard policy and project objectives, such as consultancy for project design and delivery or communication support.
